Your advocate during divorce.
Financial Expertise and Strategy
As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) professional, I provide the client and attorney with data analysis that shows the financial effect of any given settlement. I become part of the divorce team and provide support on financial issues such as:
-
Understanding the short-term and long-term effects of dividing property.
-
Determining if the client can afford the marital home, and if not, what he or she can afford.
-
Recognizing the tax consequences of different settlement proposals.
Data Collection and Analysis
Much of my role as a CDFA® is to collect financial data and perform analysis. I can help manage a client’s expectations of their financial future by presenting different scenarios and talking through the client’s budget and expenses. As a CFP® and a CDFA®, I am trained to:
-
Collect financial and expense data.
-
Help clients identify their future financial goals.
-
Develop a budget.
-
Set retirement objectives.
-
Identify what kind of lifestyle they want.
Settlement Support
EQUAL does not always mean EQUITABLE. In many situations, one party has a much larger earning potential or inherited wealth.
As a CDFA®professional, I will help:
-
Identify channels to reach shared goals
-
Devise alternate settlement possibilities
Lifestyle Analysis
Compare the lifestyle experienced pre-divorce to the proposed lifestyle post divorce. I will help determine:
-
Are additional resources needed to fund the previous lifestyle?
-
What other income sources are practical?
-
Can debt be eliminated?
Pension Valuation
Pension and retirement plans are often the largest asset to consider in a divorce. A pension earned during marriage is generally considered to be a joint asset of both spouses and have a major role in the divorce settlement. I will analyze all retirement assets to:
-
Determining present value of future benefits.
-
Explain different types of retirement plans and the tax implications.
-
Value Stock options
